I Need To Get More Sleep (A Story)

I finally fell asleep!

It was the most restful sleep that I've had in months. I could tell I was going to enjoy this one. It's been a long time coming. I had tried everything. My personal favorite was taking shots of Nyquil even when I wasn't sick. Even that wasn't reliable. I was a trainwreck.

Last night, all this had changed. For no reason at all, I actually fell asleep around 8:15 pm and was well on my way to making it through the night. It felt great. Unfortunately, all this changed.

I woke up at 1:22 am in a daze. I didn't know why I awakened. I was more confused by the fact that I had actually been asleep. I was frozen in shock for a while as I was trying to get my still half-sleep mind together. That's when I heard a rustling sound in the living room.

The noise wasn't much, but enough for me to know someone was there. I rolled to the left side of the bed to get my gun from between the mattress. Then I got up and slowly crept to the door. I opened it slowly so the hinges wouldn't creak. I then peeked out. What I saw next was simply astonishing...
